We have a very enthusiastic group of Aunt Sally Players at the Plough.
2021 SEASON
The 2021 Season IS happening. Hooray!
Until June 30th practices for ourselves only 7-9pm in back garden.
From July 7th the full season begins. First match on 7th vs The Pheasant. Matches begin 8:30pm
(or would have been if not for EuroFootball!)
This year we are running one team. The Bicester and District Aunt Sally has just 3 division this year,
Premier and Division 1 and two mixed ability divided geographically (Divs 2+3) of equal rank.
We are in Div 3.
See Diary page for list of matches. Spectators always welcome whether home or away.
For those who do not know what Aunt Sally is
1) it is a serious Sport
2) it is also Fun
3) It is suitable for all ages and genders! Come and watch a match and find out.
DUE TO COVID 19 THE 2020 SEASON DID NOT TAKE PLACE
2019 SEASON
In 2019 season The Casuals had two Pairs in the Division 5 Pairs semi finals
and reached the semi finals of the Supplementary Cup and were unlucky not to reach the finals in
both cases. But Helen from the Casuals won through the heats to the Division 5 Singles Final on September
20th and came second, a pretty good result for her first season of ever playing Aunt Sally.
The 1sts reached the Intermediate Cup semi finals on Aug 21st and went out to the eventual winners
and leaders of Division 3, The Shakespeare. They had two Pairs, (Ben+Ben and Matt+Nick) playing
in the Division 4 Pairs on Finals Night on September 20th and Matt and Nick came second.
On August 8th 2019 Matthew Orlando managed to score a Sixer, the first ever scored by a member
of a Plough team! (Hitting 6 dolls with 6 sticks) (even better we needed 6 to win the match 2-1
.....and he was the last player in the 3rd leg) So he also received a Sixer Award on Finals Night.
1sts were in DIVISION 4 in 2019
Casuals were in DIVISION 5 in 2019
In 2018 we added the Casuals in Div 6 to the 1sts in Div 5 of the Bicester and District League.
Recent Cup Finals .....in 2016 Nick won the Singles trophy for our division,
in 2017 Mark won the Singles Trophy for our division and the team won the Supplementary Cup.
In 2018 Nick won the Singles trophy, Adam B and Lewis W won the Pairs for Div 6 and Damo and Toby won the Pairs for Div 5.......and the 1st team won the Supplementary Cup.
..........not sure how we can cap the 2018 result ..........but we are going to have a good try in 2019!
The dates for Aunt Sally are on the DIARY page of this website
(if you are reading this out of the playing season they will be on there as soon as we have them)
WE HAVE TWO TEAMS The Plough MG 1sts for the more experienced and committed and
the Plough MG Casuals team for novice players and for more experienced players who cannot
commit to regular practice and attendance but would like to play from time to time.
Please Contact Us if you are interested in joining one of the teams.
Or just pop into the Main Bar when we are open. Ask for the sticks and the practice doll and have
a go at the game. Any of us or any players who are around in the Plough can explain how it works
New players always welcome although if you are past the cut off date for a year you won't be able to
join a team till next season (usually around the end of June).
Matches are on a Wednesday nearly every week but it is not essential to play in every match.
Aunt Sally is a serious game of skill but it is also a lot of fun - the game usually
includes some drama with a few tense heart stopping moments (especially in the 2018 Supplementary Cup final!)
The teams are all very friendly and new team members are made very welcome.
